Maths - learning 'how many' and much more!

This was my favourite moment from last week. We are learning our finger patterns. Here is the number 3 - show me 3 fingers...

While I work with the rest of the group Kere and Dekodah are working together. Kere shows Dekodah how many fingers make three on his hand and guides her to also hold up 3 fingers. He is gentle and has a lovely way of speaking to Dekodah as they do this together. 

We are all at different stages of our learning journeys. We all have something to contribute and share. But the most important thing is the caring and support we give each other as we go on this journey together. Kei runga noa atu koe e tama!

After helping Dekodah Kere turned to me excited..."I'm a teacher!" Yes you are! He rangatira o āpōpō!
